The“Satyananda Yoga”method is a system that promotes the development of human potential and helps restore the practitioner’s balance in a holistic way by addressing all aspects of the human personality: the physical body, the mind, the psyche, and the emotions.
The classes follow a systematic progression that allows students to assimilate the effects gradually and with confidence, one step at a time and without tension, making yoga accessible and beneficial for everyone: children, adults, seniors, women, men, and people of all physical abilities.
Yoga according to the Satyananda method (or Bihar Yoga) is a system developed and presented by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, a disciple of Swami Shivananda Saraswati, and by his disciple Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, incorporating practices derived from ancient and traditional sources.
The Satyananda Yoga method is an“Integral Yoga,”meaning it integrates different aspects of the discipline so that anyone can practice it. All practices derive from direct, real, continuous, and uninterrupted experience passed down from teacher to disciple, from the past to the present day.
The Satyananda Method requires no political or religious beliefs; it provides anyone, regardless of social status, with the tools for personal development to become stable and self-assured.
Through regular practice, students experience greater mental stability and peace, physical strength and health, and overall well-being.
The Satyananda Method is applied worldwide, particularly in social settings: in hospitals, schools, universities, community centers, nursing homes, treatment centers, government offices, sports facilities, and prisons.
At the Bihar School of Yoga (India) there is the University of Advanced Yogic Studies: the “Bihar Yoga Bharati,” which received recognition from the Indian government in 2000; founded in 1994 by Paramahamsa Swami Niranjananda with the aim of preserving the knowledge and wisdom of yoga and integrating it with modern scientific research and methodologies.
